Dr. John Oladapo Obafunwa
Dr. John O. Obafunwa is a Specialist Forensic Pathologist and Professor and Head of Department of Morbid Anatomy, Lagos University College of Medicine, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. He serves as
Consultant Pathologist to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria. He also is the State Forensic Pathologist for Lagos State, Nigeria. Dr. Obafunwa received his
medical degrees from the University of Lagos College of Medicine, Lagos, Nigeria. He took his residency in morbid anatomy/anatomic pathology at the University of Lagos College of Medicine and
Hospital and became certified with FMCPath (Nigeria). He also obtained the FWACPath from the West African College of Physicians. He took his forensic pathology fellowship/residency at the Welsh
National School of Medicine, Cardiff, Wales, U.K. under Professor Bernard Knight and subsequently obtained the DMJ(Path) (London) and MRCPath (U.K.). He is currently a Fellow of the Royal College of
Pathologists (U.K.) and a Fellow of the Faculty of Pathologists (Royal College of Physicians of Ireland). He has LLB (Hons.) degree from the Northumbra University, UK.
Professor Obafunwa was the State Pathologist for Cayman Islands and the Republic of Bermuda. He is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and also a delegate to the International
Academy of Legal Medicine. He is a member of the British Association of Forensic Pathologists and the World Association of Police Surgeons. He has lectured and published extensively in the fields of
forensic pathology and legal medicine. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Nebraska Institute of Forensic Sciences, Inc.
